What does it mean to be a historian? Historians can answer a variety of questions. They do research, find the right sources and interpret them, check facts, analyse, use the acquired knowledge to form a theoretical framework and capture an image of life in the past. Revolutions and upheaval, reforms and social movements, economy and culture, personalities and religion – the whole spectrum can be seen in the past. It is the goal of historians to figure out how and why people of the past acted in certain ways.
