Profile

Jonathan Krautter works on the project "Industrial Policy in Japan during the Postwar Boom. Business, Government and International Technology Transfer 1955-1973 (DFG)." From June 2022 to April 2023, he was a researcher for the DFG SPP 1859 project "Sky-High expectations: how politics, crisis, and knowledge transfer shaped the multinational airline Air Afrique, 1961-1990." Since August 2023, he has been a member of the research team studying "Medical and Recreational Treatments for Children in “Kur” Facilities in the Federal Republic of Germany between 1945 and 1989."

From 2017 to 2018, he held the position of a Ph.D. Fellow at the German Institute for Japanese Studies in Tokyo. He earned a Bachelor of Arts in History and East Asian Studies from the University of Heidelberg and a Master of Arts in Modern History from the University of Jena. Between 2011 and 2012, he also studied Economics at Hitotsubashi University in Tokyo.
